The purpose of the Journal of Reinsurance is to encourage an exchange of
ideas and to disseminate educational information for the benefit and betterment of the Intermediaries & Reinsurance Underwriters Association membership and the reinsurance community.
The Journal of Reinsurance is an official publication of the Intermediaries & Reinsurance Underwriters Association. It is published quarterly in January, April and July, and October. Focused on issues confronting the reinsurance community in today's complex environment, the Journal of Reinsurance applies the best research and practices to the strategic challenges and operating problems of today's environment. The Journal of Reinsurance is designed to keep reinsurance and insurance underwriters, insurance company executives, brokers, regulators, academicians and those
interested in reinsurance abreast of developments which will impact on reinsurers and the reinsurance market.
Founded in 1994, the Journal was successively edited by Claude C. Lilly III
(1993-1996), who is the James J. Harris Chair and the Interim Dean of the Belk College at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Ronald G. Mullins (1996-1999).
The current Editor is Paul Walther, CPCU, ARe, CEO and Principal Consultant of Reinsurance Directions, Inc., which provides reinsurance consulting and arbitration services. Paul is a member of the Reinsurance Section of the CPCU Society, and has authored various topical reinsurance articles which have appeared in such trade periodicals as Best's Review, Mealey's Litigation Report - Reinsurance, National Underwriter, Reactions Magazine, CPCU Journal, and the Journal of Reinsurance.
